Read the\u00a0<em>About\u00a0<\/em>page closely for evidence of partisanship or bias.\u00a0 If there&#8217;s no\u00a0<em>About\u00a0<\/em>page and no\u00a0<em>Contact<\/em>\u00a0page, be very skeptical.<\/p><\/li><li><p>In staff listings (or on the\u00a0<em>About<\/em>\u00a0page), look critically at the list of executives. Are they real people or\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.istockphoto.com\/photos\/ceo?excludenudity=true&amp;page=1&amp;phrase=CEO&amp;sort=best\">stock photos<\/a>? Open a new tab and look for another profile of the individual (e.g. LinkedIn).<\/p><\/li><li><p>Perform an independent search for the news source. Compare and verify URLs.<br \/><strong>Example<\/strong>:\u00a0<strong>http:\/\/abcnews.com.co\/<\/strong>\u00a0(fake site) is\u00a0<strong><em>not<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0the ABC Network News\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/\">http:\/\/abcnews.go.com<\/a>, but the logo and the URL are almost identical.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Advertisements designed to look like news stories:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li><p>Look for labels: a corporate logo.
