Establishment:
Founded on 1 July 1984, alongside the establishment of UUM in February 1984.
Initially located at a temporary campus in Jitra, Kedah.
Relocation to Sintok Campus:
Moved to the UUM Sintok campus in September 1990.
Expanded to offer advanced collections and services.
Building Expansion:
Original building accommodated 1,000 users at a time.
Expanded with a new building in 2012, covering a total area of 49,169 square meters.
Collection and Usage:
Housing over 7 million volumes in the collection.
Circulates more than 30,000 items annually.
Over 7 million digital titles in academic subjects.
Naming and Official Opening:
Named after the late Sultanah of Kedah, Her Royal Highness Almarhumah Tuanku Hajjah Bahiyah binti Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman.
Officially opened on 21 September 1999 by His Royal Highness Almarhum Al-Sultan Almu’Tasimu Billahi Muhibbuddin Tuanku Alhaj Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah.
Future-Focused:
Designed to accommodate growing numbers of students, academic staff, and advancements in information technology.

Establishment
Perpustakaan Sultanah Bahiyah (PSB) was established in 1984 alongside Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).

Relocation to Main Campus
In 1990, the library was one of the first departments to move to the newly constructed Sintok campus, located 48 km north of Alor Setar.

Inaugurated on 5th July 1999 by His Royal Highness Almarhum Al-Sultan Almu'Tasimu Billahi Muhibbuddin Tuanku Alhaj Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, the Sultan of Kedah.
